“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;”
John 11:25 NIV
The weight of what Jesus did on the cross and what it means for my life has never been glossed over. It consistently leaves me in awe, but the love that held Him on the cross and the power that raised Him from the dead 2,019 years ago means even more to me this Easter.
In these past 8 months, our family has experienced great amounts of loss. And the compounding of time and the pressure of pain have made it hard to catch our breath at times.
BUT GOD.
I have been reflecting on what Jesus did on the cross in these past couple of weeks after my mother-in-love passed, and her passing, along with the passing of my second mom in September, have made Jesus’ resurrection SO much more sweeter for me. For you see, because of Jesus, death did not get the final say in either of their lives.
LIFE did.
ETERNAL life did.
Because of Jesus, when they breathed their last breaths here on Earth, Torment wasn’t their destination, GLORY was! Because of Jesus, pain stayed Earth-side and wholeness met them Heaven-side! Because of Jesus, LIFE is what they GAINED, not death. Because of Jesus. 😭💙💚
Today, we celebrate a RISEN savior who was held to a cross by love, defeated the devil and death, and rose again on the third day so that you, me, Meemaw, and Grammie could have LIFE after this one, and escape the clutches of death.
“Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:54- 57 NIV
